Absolutely the funnest and slightly craziest time ever! We had a friend's pooch, Romeo, come over for the day while his humans were off doing fun stuff together. The two dogs had a wild and crazy time.
Romeo is also a tall, dark and handsome pup with a youthful spunk and great personality. They spent the day playing and wrestling, sniffing and eating. As the day progressed the Genny was becoming increasingly selfish though, only child much? MY toy, MY door, MY patio, MY pillow, humans, food, water you name it - he made it known. No sharing allowed apparently. How do you teach a pup that sharing is caring? Romeo stayed calm and cool throughout, he was a fab house guest =).
After about 3 hours when we couldn't take the rough housing any longer, we made it down to the beach for a much needed energy release. It was great to get some first hand experience with walking 2 dogs at the same time. The Santa Monica beach strand was pretty crowded, but we managed very well with the boys. Romeo was better behaved with me =) so I walked him (major dog whisperer moment for me) while Joey walked the still in selfish mode 'do not walk in front of meeeeee' Genny. They had SO MUCH FUN together it's obvious Genny needs a buddy full time. We just need to find a new place to live first...sheesh!
It was sad to say goodbye to Romeo, we really enjoyed the extra company. Hope he returns for a visit soon - Genny slept it off for 2 days straight!

Genny Sitters
A few weeks ago Joe and I took off to the beaches of San Diego for a family graduation, but this time Genny was left at home. Luckily we had great doggy-sitters on hand for the weekend. His old roomie Stan took care of him for Day 1, and Joe's buddy Carter handled Day 2.
Here is a shot of the Genny in route to Carters. Isn't he the so WELL BEHAVED?? He rules and drools in my car, but somehow he knew to keep it wrapped up in the beamer haha.

Big Bear CA
It all started when the genny was feeling brave, and was tip toeing around the pontoon edge. Then suddenly, slip in he went, right into the lake. Joey nearly hyperventilated, but managed to dive in right after him and SAVE THE GENNY! Upon the pooch falling in, his swimming legs did go right to work, and the boy started paddling to me. We always had wondered if he could swim, "they all do right?" The Genny was swimming alright, but the poor guy was scared to death! Good thing Joey flew in the water, and we had a strong guy to pull him up - otherwise we never would have gotten him back on board!
He loves to be outside in general, but I think he really loves to be out on the lake. I hope we get to go back this summer!
Road Trippin'
The General attended his first birthday party - and in San Diego! He joined the gang for a road trip weekend and we all helped my good friend Megan celebrate her b-day.
"...are we there yet?"
Megan and Ryan just settled into a new place, equiped with a new puppy! I have been dying to meet the new pooch and very excited that she wanted me to bring the Genny along too. We have been plotting their everlasting friendship since the first days =)
Everyone meet Chef:
He is the coolest dog since the genny =) Notice how genny is groveling down all his food and poor chef is like "uhh a little help please". They had a great time running around like ANIMALS and creating all sorts of havoc. Most of the humans were slightly iffy about the WWF throwdowns in yard. Such show-offs.

A Travel Pup
The General is a travel pup. He hasn't visited many places, but he does manage to get around a little... Our first camping trip was to McGrath state beach.
He loved it all, the sun, the sand, the little kids to lick on the face...
Here he is on the drive back, loving the windy ride. I think it's one of my all time favs <3

Genny's Patio
The General now has a patio! He can sniff, lick, poke and prod at anything he wants! In actuality, he only wants to be out there if we are, but I am determined to get him in the sunshine often. I treated him to a frozen bone on Sat AM and he finally made himself a little more comfortable....
I bought this frozen bone a while back after some pushy dude wouldn't let me leave the pet store with out one. "THIS IS A REAL TREAT!," OK, whatever dude who probably sells them, hand me the gross bloody frozen thing and leave me alone. But he REALLY enjoyed it! I think it occupied him 100% for 3 full hours!
Also, the patio has been updated a bit since Saturday... there is now a little couch/bench where he sun bathes =)

He's a Worker
His days of couching lounging and grass sampling are over. He's a worker now (self-employed). Genny dawns a small red backpack filled with some goodies and he is WORKIN' IT! Not only is he more proud while walking, but I can remind him that he has a job to do and it makes him more focused/behaved. (Which means less dragging and pulling me around!) =) We even did some work at the dog park last weekend, were he was the talk of the town! ALL the pooches wanted to know what was up with the bag.... "I'm working" he said. =)

Lunchtime with Genny
I have always admired the dog people who are savvy enough to enjoy a nice lunch outside with their dogs. We have only done as much as Coffee Bean with the Genny before. Although he is 100% sweet at heart, he is not 100% perfect. He likes to growl and tends to try and pounce on dogs he sees. Sometimes he lets his nose take over and he drags me around, like I'm not even there. Some would say he is not the obvious choice when picking a dining partner, but luckily we are not sizests around here! The Gen accompanied Joe and I on a lunch date, and he did so well. =)
Hollywood is Genny's new hood and just down the street is Cheebo, a restaurant where pooches are frequenters. On this Saturday AM there were surprisingly no outdoor eaters! I convinced Joe we could tuck ourselves in the back corner undisturbed, and since there were no dogs or people we would be OK? Right?
He was a good boy, a little hesistant to relax at first. As soon as he sniffed every inch of the lunch area he was satisified and layed down some. They were even awesome enough at Cheebo to hook Genny up with his own silver doggy water bowl. Much props. Heres a look at the pooper in action. Notice how his head is at perfect table cleaning height.

Rain, Rain, Go Away!
It's been crazy wet in LA! Raining cats and poopers all week! It's especially hard for the Genny to get his usual exercise with all this down pour =( . As I mentioned before, the rain takes a toll on us, but hurricane warnings? Oh my! Even worse!
I walked him on Monday afternoon. Joey had the wettest morning walk EVER so there was no way I was going to let him get soaked twice! Genny and I got pretty lucky, as always, just a few sprinkles on us and we had a nice puddle-jumping walk.
One quick confession/story - I tried to copy this dude I saw on TDW (the dog whisperer) and put a sleek little thermal number on the Genny yesterday (not as torture, but to protect him from the torrential hurricane warning weather). He HATED it to say the least. I had to drag the 100 lbs beast across the street, trying to run so he would think we were having fun. Poor guy, he planted his feet SO firmly and gave met the DIRTIEST LOOK I have ever seen! LOL Doggy translation was "TAKE THIS SHIT OFF!"
Oh Genny! He looked so cute, I promise. I had to strip him in the street and practically rip off the dang thermal. A full 10 mins in the rain and we only made it across the street! It really makes me laugh thinking about it... poor guy! Not so much a dresser-upper...

Happy New Year!
My parents hosted a New Years Eve party last week and Genny and I went early on Thursday to help setup. He wasn't invited to the party this time because it was FREEZING outside and we didn't want him becoming a poop-sicle for the new year.
He really loves the trips to my folks' house. Primarily because my mom has huge frozen bones saved for him on hand. But today, there was something even better. My mom prepared a humongous ham that morning for the party. To Genny's delight it became his! The ham ended up a bit over cooked and looked more like beef jerky. My mom removed the jerky portions and forked over the largest bone the Genny has gotten yet! Picture included below... shield your eyes if you are vegetarian.
I told myself that I would only let him eat half, due to his patterns of chucking up stuff like this. I guess he knew what I was thinking, because when I came back about 20 mins later the bone was GONE! I mean a tiny little chunk was left, but that was it! I knew this experience would have some repercussions - the huge smelly kind. Genny and I head home after the ham bone incident and he quickly drifted into a long, deep, ham bone coma. Joe was worried. (I dont have the best record with Genny and food if you recall.) Here's a pic of my sleeping, ham bone coma angel. I think we are both glad the holiday feasts are over!
